A message from Tony and Kirsty Wade

The Womens Cancer Challenge 2010 raised the fantastic total of £10,410, It's unbelievable how generous people have been – the total is almost identical to the sum raised locally in 2009 which in this economic climate is amazing, so we want to say a big thank you to everyone who got involved. Without everyone's help and generosity, the event would be impossible. Thank you so much for contributing so generously to such a great local cause, which is near to so many of our hearts.

On our 2010 Women's Cancer Challenge thanks list are: The Stornoway Trust; Callum Iain Macmillan and Lews Castle College; Hebridean Water Coolers; Morag Macdonald; Kenny John Macleod; Lewis branch of Cancer Research UK; The Stornoway Gazette; David Morrison; Donnie Saunders and the staff from Isles FM; Red Cross; ISL staff; Stornoway Running Club and Athletics Club; Stornoway Golf Club, and all the Stewards – and anyone else who we may have inadvertently forgotten, you know who you are – a huge thanks!

We hope to make the 2011 event even bigger and better – watch The Stornoway Gazette for entry information early in the New Year!

The Lunar Walk

Highlighting breast cancer, the pink parade hit the town's town's streets earlier this year and – complete with some especially decorated bras – strolled their way to raising £1,688, which organiser Eilidh Thompson was pleased to donate to the Lewis branch of Cancer Research UK.
